APIA VOLUNTEER PROGRAM


Rules and Regulations

The Volunteer Program was started during the 2009 season, to recognize volunteers. The objective of the program is to provide the APIA an opportunity to recognize volunteers for even a small amount of participation, provide a method of rewarding a few volunteers each year in a way that is as fair as possible, in the hope of encouraging more volunteering in our community.

To Qualify: Volunteers participate in certain qualifying events during the APIA season. Each time they participate, their name would be placed in a coffee can/jar and would indicate what they volunteered for. APIA officers are eligible for the raffle except where indicated under Qualifying Events.


Qualifying Events

1. Beach Clean up in May (each person who volunteers over the age of 10 is eligible)

2. Attend a monthly meeting (1 meeting = 1 qualifying event) - APIA officers are exempt from qualifying

3. Active & successful collection of dues - walk door to door, solicit on the beach. (Must receive 3 or more paid dues to have 1 volunteer entry.)

4. Hang signs (x3 per event) for upcoming meetings and the kids party (signs for 1 meeting = 1 qualifying event) 5. Kids party volunteers – Prior to the day of the party, 1 entry for each form of participation in shopping for prizes or food, booking the entertainment. The day of the party, 2 entries for any volunteer who participates in setting up tables, running a table or game, cooking, taking pictures, and/or cleaning up after.

6. Grade/Clean the Beach with the ride-on

7. Year End Party - for duties such as organizing the event, making/preparing food, collecting tickets at the door. 8. Provide assistance to the APIA in maintaining or repairing property (i.e.(but not limited to): maintaining cove locks, repairing gates, fences, etc. APIA officers have the authority to decide on the eligibility as these events occur.

Rules:

1. Eligible to anyone over the age of 10, who resides at an APIA paid member's household or who attends an event as a guest of an APIA paid member.

2. APIA Officers can participate (this is new in 2024), although participation in monthly meetings does not qualify

3. Monetary donations of $50 or more qualify.

4. Donations of food do not qualify. However, preparing foods for an event does qualify.

5. Person who volunteers MUST approach an officer prior to the work being performed to have their work acknowledged

6. An officer must approve volunteers' involvement in task prior to task performed.

7. Volunteer should approach officer at completion of event to ensure that their entry is placed in the drawing.

8. All entries will be placed in drawing after a volunteer has contributed in an event.

9. Drawing at the end of year for 1 of 3 $50 gift cards.

10. After drawing, all entries are removed, destroyed and start clean for the next year.

11. Drawing date will be announced, as it cannot occur until after the last eligible event.

12. Any issues or conflicts that result will be resolved by the APIA officers and all decisions are final.
